April is a month of more retrogrades, as the Universe signals a slowing down in order to re-assess current progress and its effect so far.
Saturn in Sagittarius retrograde creates obstacles, difficulties and delays in plans to expand and if forced, the structure on which the expansion is built will eventually collapse. Saturn is “saying”, wait, there are things that have been overlooked that need attention during this cycle. Sagittarius also deals with honesty, a broader perspective of people, seeing things through a different lens, without discrimination towards others and certain situations. Sagittarius also represents other cultures, beliefs and opportunity and withholds good luck when the right things isn’t done, in harmony with Natural Law. This is a good time to take up study to expand the mind/consciousness, gain greater awareness of Self and life purpose. Letting go of beliefs that are stagnant, oppressive or dogmatic.
Saturn is the “teacher” of the zodiac and will bring up situations from the past so “lessons” can be learned and an understanding of Natural Law (karma) integrated. The good thing about Saturn is that it always “rewards” when things are done correctly, in harmony with the Universe and the direction it is leading each person to move towards.
Pluto retrograde in Capricorn highlights all authority/power structures, government, career, goals and ambitions. Capricorn is a very stable earth sign and sticks to everything seemingly comfortable, safe and secure. Capricorn is known to be reliable, the symbol of the “goat climbing the mountain”, rarely making a mis-step. Slow to change, if ever, keeping the status quo in tact. Pluto in this sign wants to transform, regenerate and re-energize, removing fear insecurity and doubt blocking change and forward movement, rebirth into something better, more positive. Pluto eliminates everything causing decay and disintegration, getting rid of obsessions. While retrograde Pluto will highlight all that needs to be relinquished, while exposing the desire to use power aa a tool of the ego and Self, with “explosive” outcomes that cause self-destruction in not too positive ways.
The retrograde is a time to go within and learn how to change self-destructive behavior, fears, insecurity and past mistakes associated with Capricorn, that would lead to stagnation and decay in the long-term. Pluto can be a difficult retrograde because very few people like change and prefer to keep things in a familiar pattern of the past that doesn’t allow for growth or empowerment. Because Pluto is at the end of the planetary zodiac its effects are not only the personal but effects large groups of people and generations. You only have to look at the world and recent events to see how this is being played out. The responsibility therefore lies with each person to ensure self-destruction isn’t the outcome of not only this retrograde but Saturn too.

Mercury retrogrades again, first in the sign of Taurus, which represents money, material possessions, self-worth, personal resources and beauty. During this transit budgeting is important or at least scaling back finances, depending on the house that Taurus resides. Worth/value will also become a focus, not only on a personal level but material too. For instance, Taurus in the first house would influence an individual to analyze their value in the world, how much they earn, being paid what they deserve. Issues of self-image will also arise, a change of appearance isn’t uncommon in a Mercury/Taurus retrograde cycle. Of course with all Mercury retrogrades, signing papers, contracts are not advised. There will also be delays/difficulties with all forms of travel communication, negotiations and meetings, problems/mistakes will arise. This is a time to review, research and re-assess, thinking things through and not making any decisions until the cycle is over.
Personal resources, beauty, luxury and gourmet foods come under this particular retrograde. Taurus is an Earth sign, indicating keeping things simple, practical and natural is the best way to go as opposed to the ostentatious, brash and over-done. In addition, Taurus is the sign of stubbornness, therefore “digging in the heels” and not seeing other’s point of view will not work out well in this Mercury/Taurus retrograde.
Mercury goes back into Aries April 20th - May 15th. Throughout this transit it would be wise to not say or do anything in impulse or anger, while putting emphasis on self-awareness and self-improvement. Thinking things through first, especially if a decision involves starting something new. Caution is the operative word, in particular because there are other planets retrograde at the same time for longer cycles, namely Pluto, Jupiter and Saturn.
These particular retrogrades, of Taurus and Aries are ones to pay strong attention to, as they are an indication of bigger changes on the horizon in 2018. In May of next year, Uranus the planet representing drastic, unexpected upheavals and change, of things that are stagnant, not growing or in harmony with positive universal growth and prosperity for all, will enter Taurus for several years. To say there will be change is an understatement, based on current world events at this time. To be forwarded is to be forearmed.
