Date: December 3rd - December 22nd
Mercury retrograde this month indicates, as with any planet in a retrograde cycle, a time to go within, redo and rethink. Sagittarius is the sign travel, expansion, beliefs, good fortune, higher learning, truth, the establishment, optimism, freedom and foresight, to name just a few of its attributes. Therefore, this transit influences a time to goo deeper, to have greater insight and knowledge of Self. To gain a more positive attitude towards life and life purpose, looking back to see if choices made have been beneficial. To explore in order to understand individual potential, while to greater heights and expanding talents.
This is one of those cycles where it would be a good idea to take a course of study to develop and strengthen all of the above, being truthful and honest about personal needs, fulfillment and happiness.
Arrogance and dogmatism are traits of Mercury retrograde in this sign, in addition to intolerance towards people of other cultures and belief systems. The tendency and need for adventure will be strong during this transit, but Mercury retrograde warns that adventure needs to be kept on a personal/internal level until the cycle is over, so that positive outcomes can manifest.
The “truth will set you free’ is the mantra for Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, a time to think, reflect, inquire of Self and believe the impossible can be achieved.
Cycle moving out of Sagittarius
Date: December 19th 2017 - December 17th 2020
Capricorn Symbol: The Mountain Goat
Rules: Bones, skin and knees
On December 19th, Saturn will move out of Sagittarius where it has been for three years, into Capricorn =m the Sign that it rules, until December 17th 2020.
Saturn is the planet of karma, Saturn rules Capricorn, therefore this particular transit will be Cause and Affect x 2, karma multiplied in folds, for some who care little about how their actions affect others. This three year cycle highlights obstacles, difficulty, restriction, delay, time, organization, perseverance, stability,
responsibility, career goals, ambitions, authority, power, seriousness, anxiety and structure. Saturn in its own sign is very compatible and very strong.
During this particular Saturn cycle the opportunity will be provided for introspection, reflection, meditation of past deeds in order to get through the transit.. The key to getting through this cycle is discipline, caution, restraint and stability, not a good time for impulsive actions. Instead discernment, prudence, patience and efficiency will be beneficial attributes will the most beneficial character traits to gain positive results. It is most likely that there will be career change, or at least serous thought given to it. The structure of governing bodies (Capricorn) will be reviewed and questioned.
This is a transit that symbolizes working hard on Self, somewhat imposed by Saturn through restrictions, limitation, obstacles and responsibility, according to the house where Saturn in Capricorn will be. And so, the life-lessons begin. The more these “lessons” are accepted and confronted the stronger a person becomes and the more rewarding life becomes. As a result of dealing with weakness, the greatest talent and capabilities can emerge. Self-assurance is gained, as confidence in personal ability grows. A time to cope with and deal with realities of life.
As the “teacher” of the Zodiac, Saturn embodies the “lessons” that lead to a sense of responsibility, maturity and self-discipline. Perceptions of what will bring power and growth and ow to achieve this will be a priority. Including looking at the current structures that aren’t secure and will likely crumble at some point.
Saturn in Capricorn is like having a double Saturn return, Saturn returns are indicative or the time it takes Saturn to return to its original position in a birth chart (28 years approx.). The Saturn return in a person’s life is usually a period of growing up, responsibility, commitment and a struggle to overcome limitations that become apparent in life. Saturn in Capricorn is capable of bringing great determination resilience, endurance and situations to an individual, where responsibility must be taken not only for Self but for others and past actions.
When it feels as if life is an uphill struggle in the next three years, know that this is Saturn “laying down the law”, for each individual to take notice and realize that something is wrong, weak, insecure and unstable and needs to be fixed. Saturn in Capricorn can only be described i\as the epitome of “you reap what you have sewn”. Only the strong and self-aware who are willing to rise to the challenges presented will benefit fromm this cycle and come out of it better off than when it began. Others will lose what they perceive was a secure structure in their lives. Therefore, it is wise to remember that during the Saturn in Capricorn transit, Saturn always rewards learned.
